What’s All This about BMW and Steam?
Just when you think you have heard it all, something comes along that totally surprises you. Like a gentle breeze on the back of your neck on a hot summer’s day that promises unexpected pleasure, so too will BMW amaze you. When we think of mechanical devices and steam, the first thing that usually comes to mind is the old steam engines of the American west. But now a new use has been found for an old source of energy. But who in their wildest dreams every thought that steam would be used as a source of power for our cars in this century.
Is this a leap forward for BMW or just a gimmick that won’t last very long?
In the closing days of 2005, BMW announced the introduction of a new technology they called the “turbosteamer”. And like most people I had no idea what they were talking about. Not only that, but I didn’t know that a large part of the energy released by burning gas in my car went right out the exhaust system as heat. Wow. What a waste of money. (more…)

Audi is a car manufacturing company with a big history. Data about it is provided in many places today which come to say how proud the owners of this manufacturer are. There are in fact many things that make them proud.
The foundation of the company is on 14 November 1899. This is the date when August Horch (1868 – 1951) established the company A. Horch & Cie which was the starting point of Audi that we know today. This company was established in the Ehrenfeld district of Cologne where August Horch made his first car model. The car was finished during 1901 and in March of the next year the company was moved to Reichenbach in Saxony.
Two years later the company was converted to share-issuing company. During that time another change of location took place. On the same year – 10 May 1904 a company in Zwicka was established by the name A. Horch & Cie. Motorwagen-Werke AG. (more…)

Items from the past have a way of affecting those that come in the future. We are all familiar with various cars from the past that are now considered to be classics. One of them is classic Audi cars. The Classic Audi cars laid the groundwork that Audi has been utilizing since their birth from Volkswagen. Unlike the competition, they are unwilling to conform and will reflect this in the front wheel drive or four wheel drive designs that originated with some of the first cars they made. The Classic Audi cars have been the foundation in showing the world what Audi has been able to do and the direction that they are heading towards.
Classic Audi cars are whole host of amazing other German car-making technology packed into it. Even with the approach of a five-cylinder engine that offered advantages that four and six cylinder engines lacks. The main one was the fact that Classic Audi cars offered the savings in fuel usage that the four cylinders offered, yet also granted the power that rivaled the six. This made a huge impression as the design granted additional weight to other needs that suited the driver with enjoying the ride. (more…)
